Are comprised of 3 coral fringed islands between Lombok and Bali and lie approximately 8 degrees south of the equator and 116 degrees east. They are the first islands to lie within the Wallace line, in an area known as the Wallacea Region where the richest marine diversity of the planet exists.
is the largest of the 3 gili islands and known as the more lively, upmarket party island. There is a good white sand beach with bungalow style accomodations dotted along and luxury villas for rent. There is definately something for everyone here with plenty to do. Activities may include horse riding, scuba diving, some surfing, snorkelling, glass bottom boat trips, mainland excursions, traditional massage and excellent dining out and night life.
Gili Meno is approximately 800m to the east and known as honeymoon island as it is a favourite for people looking for the traditional desert island getaway. The main style of accomodations are beach bungalows, few restaurants but wonderfully peaceful. There is a surprisingly good bird park on the island and small lake to the west. The circumference of the island can be easily wlaked in an hour along the beach.
Gili Air lies farthest east and can best be described as a chilled out place. Busier than Meno but less than Trawangan a good variety of food, accomodation and bars can be found. It is a beachboys paradise and perfect for sipping cold beer at a beach bar listening to the many different vibes played. Beach fires, singing and diving are all in a days work.
